Rainbow Raid game play clip

Finally we’re ready to show you some actual in-game footage from Rainbow Raid. We’ve worked hard to get this far and there still is a long way to go, there are many, many rough edges.

Rainbow Raid is a platform-esque game for the iPhone and iPod touch where you have to guide Ruby and her sisters through the clouds to find their way home (and grab a load of gold).

Because the video is a screen recording from the emulator that uses the mouse, the game controls are slightly different from the real thing. Once I’ve set up the video camera and manage to get a quality recording I’ll post it here on the blog.

We hope you like this short clip.

Short Rainbow Raid clip

Bit by bit (almost literal) Rainbow Raid is shaping up.

I’m doing my best to be able to show some actual game play soon. A bit of game play is probably more interesting than a menu screen.

Finally we can show you a very, very, very tiny bit of the new game we’re working on: Rainbow Raid.

Yes, just this single image…

The coming weeks more news and screenshots will find their way to this place, so check back soon.

Amazing Springball review

Springball iconThis morning I did my usual round of websites when a familiar looking icon featured prominently on the front page of the iPhone games website Slide To Play caught my eye.

My heart skipped a beat or two and I started reading immediately. I had to calm down a bit after finishing it, it doesn’t happen that often that you receive full marks in a review.

Game released… anyone? Anyone at all?

Springball iconAnd then Springball was ready and it turned out to be a petty fun and enjoyable game, that is what the players are saying at least, and I’m very willing to believe them.

After all those long hours of coding, testing, designing, observing and listening to feedback it would be so great if I could just sit back, enjoy the nice weather and watch sales spring into existence. Getting Springball finished was hard work you know, don’t I deserve a bit of down time? (more…)

And then there was Springball

It has been awfully quiet around here hasn’t it? Well, you have to know I haven’t exactly been sitting quietly on the couch all that time twiddling my thumbs. No, I have been extremely busy getting this game for the iPhone & iPod Touch finished… this game called Springball. Which, by the way, is fun and addictive as hell.

What is wrong with this picture?

I’m so glad I’ve switched to Visual Studio for all the code editing. Out of the box Unity doesn’t support anything more advanced than a basic text editor, which drove me nuts within a couple of days. When you’re serious about your programming, you bring out the serious programming tools. It does feel a bit like returning to the Dark Side, running Visual Studio on a Mac to do your iPhone development.

The extensibility of the Unity interface is great however. I’ve added loads of helper objects that automatically generate the real geometry when the game is started.
